How to get to Winnipeg:

Winnipeg’s airport (YWG) is serviced by Air Canada, WestJet, Northwest Airlines, and United Airlines, as well as many smaller regional carriers.  There are daily non-stop flights to Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Chicago, Denver, and Las Vegas.

Other notes:

· Polar bear sightings are not guaranteed, although on my journey I was lucky enough to see so many that I lost count.

· For pictures I recommend you bring a camera with at least a 300mm zoom.

· Obviously dress very warmly and in layers (inside the vehicle is heated).  Gloves where you can quickly pull the fingers back may be very handy for taking pictures.  I also recommend getting non-slip bands to put over your boots.

Day 2

Early morning flight to Churchill.  Depart for town and area tour, and visit to Eskimo Museum. Evening slide presentation by local photographer. There is also a chance of seeing the aurora borealis at night.  Overnight Churchill hotel.

Days 3-4

Days spent in a tundra buggy with knowledgeable guide, viewing polar bears and other Arctic wildlife (perhaps even the elusive arctic fox, seen a few pics below). Lunch will be on board.  Overnight Churchill hotel.

North America’s largest land carnivore, some predict possible extinction of this apex predator in our lifetime.  Churchill is perhaps the best place for tourists to see polar bears in the wild, as they become active and wait for the ice to solidify so they can best hunt for seals.

I have been all over the world, and when asked what some of my favorite trips were I list this one among them.  I was fortunate enough to see many bears in various actions, you just never knew what would happen next.  How many people do you know that have seen a polar bear in the wild?  A must do trip for any nature lover or adventure seeker.
